Behind The Scenes With Cale Hawkins

ZanaD:Where would your dream place be to perform at?

Cale:Madison Square Garden would be incredible! I’d love to perform there.

ZanaD: What inspires you to write music?

Cale:I’m inspired by many things – life around me, the current state of the music industry and the world, experiences, and emotions, to name a few.

ZanaD:Whats the song you need to listen to when your feeling down?

Cale: I’m usually a pretty happy person, but once in a while when I get down I listen to the blues and they help a ton. There’s nothing like some Robert Johnson on a depressing day.

ZanaD:What’s your favorite band?

Cale: I don’t really have a favorite band, but my favorites definitely include The Roots, Soulive, and Stevie Wonder.

ZanaD: Whats your favorite song?

Cale: I don’t actually have a favorite song either! I usually find a new favorite song each week (or sometimes daily). I’m loving “Thelonius” by Slum Village right now though.

ZanaD: Who is your hero?

Cale: I have many heroes (especially in terms of music); I’d have to count Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Bruce Lee, Questlove, and J Dilla among them.

ZanaD: If you could have three wishes come true what would they be and why?

Cale:I would like to see an end to corruption in society, business and music; I’d also wish for healthy and happy lives for my friends, my family and myself; and finally, I’d wish for a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music so my parents wouldn’t have to worry about paying for my college tuition (haha)!

ZanaD: When is your next album coming out?

Cale: Sometime in the next year! I’ve begun brainstorming ideas right now.

ZanaD: When is your next concert?

Cale: I’m playing with a Berklee ensemble at Salem State College in Salem, MA on October 14th!

ZanaD:Where do you see your band in 5 years from now?

Cale: I’d like to be out there innovating and building a following five years from now!

ZanaD: What is your dream?

Cale: My dream is to start a new trend or create a new genre of music.

ZanaD:If you could be in any place right now where would it be?

Cale; I’m right where I want to be – studying at Berklee College of Music!

ZanaD: If you were stuck on an island what three items would you bring?

Cale: I would bring a wireless internet modem, a keyboard, and some headphones in all honesty. I could still get my music out there but also be able to play music 24/7 without any interruptions.

ZanaD:If you were trapped in a room what three people would you want to be with?

Cale: Definitely ?uestlove, J Dilla, and Stevie Wonder. That would be insane!

ZanaD: What musician would you want to go on a date with and why?

Cale: Beyonce Knowles, for obvious reasons.

ZanaD: Favorite quote?

Cale:”It ain’t where you’re from… it’s where you’re at.” – Rakim

Behind The Scenes With Lansdowne

I had the amazing chance to talk with band member Jon Ricci from the extremely talented band Lansdowne. Introducing Jon! Check out their music today, they will rock your world!

Behind The Scenes With Lansdowne:

ZanaD: What is the name of your band?

Jon: Lansdowne

ZanaD: Where are you from?

Jon: Boston, MA

ZanaD: What type of music do you play?

Jon: Rock/Active Rock. Artists we’re often compared to include Theory Of A Deadman, Shinedown, Saving Abel

ZanaD: What is the best advice you have for people who want to break into the music industry?

Jon: Don’t get into it for any other reason than you love to play music. You have to work twice as hard as you would in a normal office job just to make half the money. It’s an incredible life filled with a lot of moments that you can’t buy, but don’t get into it just because you want to be a rock star.

ZanaD: How many years have you been writing music for?

Jon: This is my first band and we’ve been together for about 4 years

ZanaD: Where would your dream place be to perform at?

Jon:I think the Boston Garden would be pretty awesome for us.

ZanaD:What inspires you to write music?

Jon: Life experiences, stories we’ve been told. A lot of our music comes from the touring we’ve done and all the crazy things we’ve seen.

ZanaD:Whats the song you need to listen to when your feeling down?

Jon: It’s a toss up between mmmbop by Hanson and Can You Feel The Love Tonight from the Lion King soundtrack…

ZanaD: What’s your favorite band?

Jon: Right now, I’m listening to new records from Three Days Grace and Stone Sour. Both are amazing.

ZanaD: Whats your favorite song?

Jon:There are so many, but off the two records I just mentioned I love “No More” and “Say You’ll Haunt Me”

ZanaD: Who is your hero?

Jon: My mother, she raised my brother and I on her own and made countless sacrifices to make sure we had a great childhood.

ZanaD: If you could have three wishes come true what would they be and why?

Jon: For myself I’d love to live forever, so I’d wish for immortality. There’s just too much I want to do and see and I’m not sure anyone has enough time to get it all done.

For America I’d wish for stronger schools with better teachers and opportunities. I was very lucky to have all of the music and theater and sports programs that I had growing up. We didn’t have a lot of money but I lived in a town that had a lot of resources. My high school English teacher is the person responsible for making me a better writer, and I think kids deserve the chance to at least see what their potential is.

For the world I wish we could find a better way to provide food and water for those that don’t have it. I think we’d be pleasantly surprised if we found ourselves in a world that doesn’t have to fight for clean drinking water and enough to eat.

ZanaD: When is your next album coming out?

Jon: Who cares about the next one, go get A Day In The Life and burn that shit for your friends.

ZanaD: When is your next concert?

Jon: We’ll be headlining a festival in Cocoa Beach, Florida, for the Air Force called Air Force Week. It’s going to be out of control.

ZanaD:Where do you see your band in 5 years from now?

Jon: Playing backyard bbqs and and sweet 16 parties for $50 and a case of PBR. Dream big. Dream big.

ZanaD: What is your dream?

Jon: To buy my mom a house. She works too hard and I want to say thank you for giving me the life I’ve got.

ZanaD: If you could be in any place right now where would it be?

Jon: 34° 4′ 35″ N, 118° 25′ 46.65″ W

ZanaD:If you were stuck on an island what three items would you bring?

Jon:Handle of Jack, professional trained masseuse, complete DVD set of The West Wing.

ZanaD: If you were trapped in a room what three people would you want to be with?

Jon: Stephen Hawkins, Benjamin Franklin, Bono

ZanaD: What musician would you want to go on a date with and why?

Jon: Can I substitute musician for Natalie Portman? Thanks

ZanaD: Favorite quote?

Jon: “It is never too late to become what you might have become” – George Eliot
